Check out our Board & Train Programs!

Our Board & Train programs provide a truly personalized, in-home training experience where your dog lives and trains directly with me in my home. This allows for consistent routines, real-life structure, and hands-on guidance in an environment that feels calm, familiar, and intentional—not a kennel or facility setting. Each dog receives daily, focused training tailored to their age, temperament, and specific goals, whether that’s building strong foundations, improving manners, or advancing obedience skills.

Throughout your dog’s stay, you’ll receive daily updates so you can follow their progress, celebrate wins, and stay connected every step of the way. This program is ideal for families who want thoughtful, individualized training and long-term results. When your dog goes home, you’ll feel confident and prepared, with clear guidance on how to maintain the progress and continue strengthening the relationship you share.

ABOUT US

At Family Dog, we’re all about building trust and sparking great communication, laying down the bedrock for obedience training that actually sticks. Our mission? To help owners grow strong, loving bonds with their dogs based on mutual respect, plenty of tail wags, and a little advocacy magic. Every pup in our program is encouraged to choose partnership with us, not because they have to, but because they genuinely want to. Because let’s be honest: a happy dog is a learning dog, and together, we’re set for success!

My name is Abby Taylor. I am the Owner and Head Trainer of Family Dog Obedience and Training. The love I had for dogs when I was young turned into the passion that drives my career today. Through this love, I developed a curiosity of how the mind of a dog worked, and what drove their behavior. I wanted to learn how to talk to them but most importantly how to understand their communication. Growing up I witnessed others have a one-way relationship with their dog. They expected their dog to understand human communication but made no effort to learn their dog's communication. Even as a child I recognized that dogs had their own way of communicating with each other and with humans. It sparked my passion to gain more knowledge and work with dogs. So, I set out to do just that.

I started my career by attending Animal Behavioral College, where I earned my certification through their education and mentorship program. Since then, I have continued my education and hands-on experience, specializing in Puppy Development, Pet Dog Training, Behavior Modification, and Service Dog Training. I am an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and educator. Currently, I also work as the southeastern trainer for Errorless Service Dogs, LLC, and I also mentor students through CATCH Canine Trainers Academy and Animal Behavioral College.

At Family Dog, we recognize that every dog is unique, and every family has its own story. Our training approach is never generic; instead, we carefully assess your dog’s personality and listen to your aspirations so we can create a personalized plan designed for lasting success. We believe that true progress comes from building a two-way communication channel between you and your dog, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
We believe in not only training your dog but educating you as the owner on the following:

• Your dog's breed and what it means to own that breed.

• How to take PROACTIVE steps to help prevent unwanted behaviors.

• How to EFFECTIVELY communicate with your dog.

• How to EFFECTIVELY understand your dog's communication.

• How to ADVOCATE for your dog.

• How to meet your dog in the middle.

• How to build a STRONG and POSITIVE relationship with your dog.

We believe the trainer-owner connection doesn’t end when training does. When you join us, you and your dog become part of our pack—a supportive community where friendships grow, knowledge is shared, and everyone helps one another succeed. We periodically host small private group sessions so you and your pup can continue progress, connect with others, and even support fellow dogs facing challenges you’ve already overcome. Welcome to the pack!
